Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the Seeker CDU™ 220?
The Seeker CDUTM 220 is a handheld chemistry detector for drugs and trace
explosives that reads samples via a swipe card. More information can
be found on our Products page.
How does your
detection work?
The Seeker CDU™ 220 and swipe cards utilize a very robust liquid
chemistry detection method (colorimetric assay). The proprietary liquid chemistry is
specific for the test chemicals and is immune to the common
interfering agents and changes in climate. This approach has always
been very effective, but typically requires highly trained personnel
with subjective results. The Seeker CDU™ 220 has completely automated this
method into a quick, simple, and repeatable test.
Who would need to use
this?
Existing security screening technologies have been too expensive for
anyone except large government agencies and corporations. In
society today, the ability to detect drugs, explosives, gun shot
residue or biological agents is becoming increasingly important
anywhere that there are large groups of people. With the Seeker CDU™ 220
, trace detection is now
affordable enough to be carried by police officers, school security,
border patrol agents, mass transit security or just about anyone.
Seeker CDU™ devices can be used as forensics tools, for threat
assessment, or just used as a visual deterrent with random bag
screenings.
Has anyone tested your
technology?
Our liquid chemistry method has been tested by the TSA, US Customs,
and police labs with unprecedented success. Much of this testing is
classified, but some generic results are available. We encourage
each new purchasing group to conduct their own evaluation - which is
why we offer a 60-day money back guarantee.
How much does it cost per
test?
Swipe cards range in cost from $1 - $2 dollars per test
depending on the card type and quantity purchased.
How does the Seeker CDU™ 220
compare to other systems?
We believe that the Seeker CDU™ 220 meets or exceeds the detection limits of
existing systems with much fewer false positives. This is partly due
to the robust nature of the liquid chemistry method and the
simplicity of use of this device.
You say that the Seeker CDU™ 220 is
expandable depending on the swipe cards used. Does this mean
more cards will be available in the future?
Yes - our chemists are actively developing additional liquid
chemistries to increase the detection capabilities of the Seeker CDU™ 220.
Potential future swipe cards include biological agent
detection, industrial chemicals, and much more.
What training costs
can we expect for this device? And how
much time is required for training?
One of the strengths of the Seeker CDU™ 220 is in the simplicity of the
device - there is no formal training necessary.
A few minutes of instruction is all that is necessary prior to using
the Seeker CDU™ 220 effectively.
How often does this
device need service/calibration? What are the costs associated with
device calibration?
The Seeker CDU™ 220 is a different approach to detection. Atmospheric and
climate changes do not alter our scientific method of detection. The
device includes self-calibration capabilities and it the device will
indicate when calibration is necessary.
